Job description

Do you enjoy an active role that isn't desk based, where no two days are the same? Can you work as part of a small team to complete tasks to the highest standards? Do you like working with people and keeping things moving in a busy environment? Are you proactive and solutions focused, with an understanding and patient outlook?

The RSC are looking for a part-time, permanent Porter to provide porter services and undertake duties across the RSC's sites and premises in Stratford-upon-Avon. This is a varied role, where you will engage with multiple stakeholders across the company and across different buildings, including commercial buildings and residential properties, where daily travel via foot, bike or company vehicle will be required.

Reporting to the Property Services Manager, key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Moving equipment, stationery, printed materials, heavy deliveries, and furniture, removing refuse and garden waste when necessary.
  • Ensuring the exterior of the buildings are kept clean and pathways and car parks are tidy and clear of obstructions.
  • Collecting post and delivering across all Stratford premises.
  • Assisting with putting up promotional materials, flags, and banners across the estate.
  • Ensuring wheelchair seats are removed / replaced in time for performances.
  • Setting up services for private and public events.
  • Assisting with the smooth running of the accommodation function, including assisting with property turnaround (involves occasional Sunday working).

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience:

  • Capability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks.
  • Committed to providing the highest standards of customer service.
  • Ability to undertake significant manual handling tasks.
  • Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Full manual driving license for the purposes of driving a company vehicle to various sites across the estate.

This is a part-time, permanent position, working 32 hours per week, based in Stratford upon Avon.

Typically working 7am till 4pm, Monday to Thursday but this can be discussed with the successful candidate. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required, and protective closing and uniform will be provided.
