University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is offering a permanent portering role based at Southampton General Hospital. You will be an integral part of the Portering team, providing safe and courteous transport of patients and items across the site, including responding to the Helipad as required.

Shifts include Day, Night, Early and Twilight across 7 days. This role supports efficient patient flow and requires a friendly, professional manner in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy.
• Good standard of computer skills.
• Previous experience dealing with the public/other agencies.

Responsabilités

• Be an integral member of the Portering team, undertaking portering duties within the Trust.
• Attend the Helipad to assist the Major trauma team in transferring patients to the Emergency Department or other locations.
• Move deceased patients from wards to mortuary or holding area, and hand over case notes as required.
• Transport laboratory specimens and blood products between hospital wards and departments.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for Confident and friendly individuals with a real appetite to provide a professional service to patients during their transfers. A helpful and courteous manner is required at all times when dealing with patients, visitors and other staff.

Shifts will consist of Days, Nights, Early and Twilight shifts across 7 days of the week.

Based primarily at the Southampton General Hospital, you will be required to transport Patients, specimens/blood and other items throughout the site in a reliable, friendly and caring manner and to respond at the Helipad as required.
