We provide a wide range of services to the NHS. We are pleased to be able to advertise the position of a Porter, to be based at Clifton Hospital. The advertised salary will therefore be pro-rata.

Main duties of the job

As a Porter, you could be moving:

• patients on beds
• stores and equipment
• samples of patients' blood
• post and parcels
• linen and waste
• cylinders of gas
• food and drink

You'll be a part of the portering team and will have contact with clinical and non-clinical staff. As you'll be coming into contact with such a wide range of people and environments you must be:

• friendly and helpful
• calm and reassuring
• physically fit for lifting, walking, pushing, etc.
• reliable and happy to work flexible, variable hours
• willing to work with staff and patients of all ages and from all walks of life
• health and safety aware
• able to follow instructions carefully
• an excellent communicator
• highly organised

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

• Educated to a standard of basic numeracy and literacy.
• Good understanding of the spoken English Language.

Experience Desirable

• Previous portering services experience.

Special Knowledge/Skills Essential

• Able to use specialist equipment following training.
• Using own initiative.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Personal Qualities Essential

• Clean and tidy appearance.
• Punctuality, and good attendance record.
• Reliability.
• Physically fit (some heavy lifting may be involved).
• Pleasant and courteous manner.
• Honest and trustworthy.
