Job summary

MPA Recruitment is recruiting for a Porter to work within the Porter Department of a hospital in Antrim. The role is busy and hands-on across various wards, with shifts across 8-4pm, 4-midnight, and midnight-8am.

You will be involved in collection and delivery of mail, laundry, waste, linen and supplies, movement of furniture and equipment, and assisting nursing staff with patient handling. A driving licence is required and weekend work is expected.

Qualifications

• Good reading, writing and communication skills.
• Able to accurately take and record instructions.
• Hard working and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
• Physically able to carry out manual handling and heavy duties.
• Able to follow health and safety procedures and cleaning schedules.
• A reliable team player who can follow supervisory instructions.
• Flexible availability across the required shift times, including weekends.
• Drivers licence required.

Responsibilities

• Collection, delivery, sorting and franking of mail.
• Participate in ensuring all operational systems and procedures in respect of security within the hospital and grounds are maintained.
• Collection of laundry, food trolley’s etc. throughout the hospital
• Collecting waste on the Hospital site and delivering to the waste disposal areas. Recycling as required.
• Delivery of clean linen, food trolleys and other services and goods throughout the hospital
• Movement of furniture and equipment.
• Store, deliver and maintain medical gas cylinders.
• Convey or accompany patients/visitors between wards, departments etc.
• Assist nursing staff to lift or move patients.
• Convey deceased patients to the mortuary in a respectful, dignified and professional manner, in line with relevant procedures.

This is a busy, hands on role based within various wards.

What is on Offer?

• Shifts available between 8-4pm, 4-midnight, and midnight-8am
