BAT UK invites undergraduates in Public Health, Population Health Science or related fields to join the Research & Science function in Southampton for a 12-month undergraduate placement starting 1 September 2027. You’ll gain experience in evidence mapping, epidemiology, real-world evidence, surveillance, digital health and strategic scientific planning.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student in Public Health, Population Health Science or related field with epidemiology/RWE interest.
• Good written and verbal communication; strong organisation and collaboration skills.
• Curiosity and proactive problem solving; experience with literature reviews is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structured literature searches in PubMed, Embase and review epidemiology and RWE studies.
• Create and maintain an evidence repository.
• Create visual summaries of evidence strengths and gaps.
• Map tobacco and nicotine surveillance systems and health surveys globally.
• Assess registries/databases for studying health outcomes.
• Map digital health platforms and data-access opportunities.
• Build a database of academic institutions, cohort owners and research networks.
• Contribute to scientific reports or manuscripts.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to synthesize findings.
