Job description

This Masters degree level apprenticeship is for early career professionals who study the health of populations, plan, commission, manage, deliver, monitor and evaluate health and social care policies and services.

The post is based in Plymouth City Council’s Public Health team, with a remit to work across health, public health and social care.

This role offers a 3 year Level 7 apprenticeship contract leading to a Health and Care Intelligence Specialist qualification. The apprenticeship standard provides further detail on this standard including relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours:Health and care intelligence specialist / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education. Access to external and internal training and skills development will be provided within the role, including relevant study leave to undertake the formal taught elements of the role, roughly equating to one day per week.Further details on the formal taught elements of the apprenticeship, to be provided by the JCG group can be found here:Health & Care Intelligence Specialist Apprenticeship Level 7 - JGAJGA - Developing Futures (jga-group.com). The postholder will be part of a cohort of apprentices across the South West and England, providing further opportunities for peer to peer learning.

The applicant must possess the following qualifications;

Undergraduate degree in at least one of the following: •

§Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

§Social Sciences (e.g. Psychology, Geography, Economics, Accounting) with Research Methods and/or Statistics and quantitative degree modules, and an undergraduate dissertation with a research or data analysis component •

Or

§Level 4 or higher qualification in STEM or a related field that includes substantial mathematical content (e.g., Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Computing, Engineering, or Science), or

Professional registration with FEDIP through the Association of Healthcare Analysts (AphA) at Practitioner or Senior Practitioner level

Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.
