Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Assistant – Pool to deliver a high standard lifeguard service at Armley Leisure Centre. You will contribute to a safe, welcoming environment and support diverse health and leisure activities.

The role requires effective communication, a team-oriented approach, and a commitment to customer service, with a focus on safety, inclusion and wellbeing. This is a permanent, part-time position with a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and a strong team mindset.
• Ability to take responsibility and work under guidance when required.
• Experience in customer-facing roles and lifeguard environments is preferred.
• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide an effective lifeguard service in line with codes of conduct and procedures.
• Deliver high-quality customer service and ensure health and safety compliance.
• Carry out cleaning duties and maintain centre facilities to required standards.
• Set up, dismantle and store pool equipment safely according to procedures.
• Support a range of activities and supervise children’s activities in line with policy.
