Job summary

Hull Culture Leisure is hiring Leisure Assistants to help supervise pools, ensure safety, assist customers, and maintain cleanliness across our leisure facilities in Hull. Roles are varied and offer on‑the‑job training, protection for vulnerable groups, and a supportive team culture.

Successful candidates will hold or be willing to undertake NPLQ training, work in a dynamic environment, and participate in flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. DBS checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or be willing to undertake the 7 days training course.
• Be confident working with customers and as part of a team.
• Have strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Be physically capable of carrying out pool rescues and handling sports equipment.
• Be committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all users.
• Demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and customer care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimming pools and public areas to ensure customer safety.
• Provide excellent customer service and act as a first point of contact for enquiries.
• Carry out pool rescues, first aid, and emergency procedures when required.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.
• Set up, check, and store sports and leisure equipment safely.
• Complete accident, incident, and inspection records accurately.
• Promote safeguarding and support the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
• Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
