Job summary

Merritt Recruitment is helping a successful UK manufacturer recruit a Polymer Chemist to join a small laboratory team. The role includes synthesis and manufacture of water-based polymer dispersions on a laboratory scale, and supporting coatings and adhesives development.

The ideal candidate will have industrial polymer chemistry experience and a Masters or PhD in Chemistry/Polymer Science, with a diligent, detail‑oriented, and collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Sound understanding of polymer chemistry gained in an industrial setting.
• Masters or PhD in Chemistry/Polymer Science or equivalent industrial experience.
• Diligent, methodical, and organised approach to work.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate results.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Previous industrial laboratory experience is required.
• Right to work in the UK; sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Carry out polymerization reactions with water-based polymer dispersions according to established laboratory procedures.
• Accurately record experimental data and observations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a safe, clean, and organised working environment.

Exciting role to join a successful manufacturer develop and improve a range of water based polymers. Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Polymer Chemist to join their small laboratory team. All levels of industrial polymer experience will be considered, and mentoring and training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the synthesis and manufacture of water-based polymer dispersions on a laboratory scale as well as supporting the development and formulation activities carried out by our team of application specialists in coatings and adhesives.

• Carry out polymerization reactions with water-based polymer dispersions according to established laboratory procedures.

Essential Requirements
