Polymer Chemist

Salary: £35,000

CY Partners is excited to be working with a leading manufacturer of high-quality Polymer products. We are seeking a talented Polymer Chemist to join their New Product Development team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for innovative coating technologies and sustainable design practices to make a significant impact in a forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and optimise coating formulations and techniques, including excimer, UV, and 2K lacquers for PVC furniture films.
  2. Design and implement novel water-based inks and primers to enhance product performance and sustainability.
  3. Serve as a specialist in embossing techniques for creating engaging textures and patterns on surfaces.
  4. Introduce new features that improve functionality and align with market trends.
  5. Develop and evaluate new products for various applications, facilitating their swift market introduction.
  6. Conduct laboratory experiments and testing to assess film properties and surface coatings.
  7. Provide technical support to production personnel for resolving quality and production issues.
  8. Assist customers with product specifications, application techniques, and troubleshooting.
Candidate Requirements:
  1. Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD) in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Material Science.
  2. Previous hands-on experience in the coating industry, preferably within plastics or materials.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical information.
  4. Knowledge of new product development and process optimisation.
  5. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
