Thames Water has an exciting opportunity within our waste networks team in North London for a dedicated and skilled Pollution Coordinator.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and mitigating pollution incidents across the Thames Water network, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and driving initiatives to protect water quality and natural resources.

The Pollution Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating pollution response efforts and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable environmental solutions.

  • Base Location: North London - Beckton STW, IG11 0AD.
  • Working Hours: 38 hours per week (Mon – Fri) 8am-4pm.
  • Full UK Driving License Required.
What you will be doing as a Pollution Coordinator
  • Lead and coordinate response efforts to pollution incidents, ensuring a timely and efficient resolution.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, regulators, and emergency services to manage and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Ensure that all pollution incidents are documented accurately, and that appropriate corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Monitor water quality and pollution levels across the Thames Water network.
  • Prepare detailed reports on pollution incidents, environmental compliance, and mitigation measures.
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies and preventative measures to minimise pollution risks.
  • Recommend best practices for pollution prevention and waste management across operations.
  • Stay updated on the latest environmental regulations, pollution control technologies, and industry standards.
  • Suggest innovative solutions to improve environmental performance and reduce the impact of pollution.
  • Work with regulatory bodies, local communities, and environmental organisations to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and guidelines.
  • Support public communication regarding pollution events, helping to manage perceptions and offer transparency.
We are looking for you to have:
  • Proven experience in pollution control, environmental management, or a similar field.
  • A degree in a scientific or environmental field is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.

  • Offering a salary from £35,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays).
