Policy Specialist (Insurance)

London - hybrid

ASAP – ongoing interim

My client, a reputable membership organisation (insurance), is looking for a policy specialist to provide some interim support to their policy team. The successful applicant will be someone who can hit the ground running and has a strong grasp of the London insurance market, including its unique nuances compared to GI and retail and Lloyd’s.

The ideal person will be skilled at:

• Eliciting member views and encouraging engagement
• Summarising complex regulatory changes
• Translating technical developments into relevant insights that resonate with our members

They should be comfortable switching between a wide range of topics and to dive deep if needed, including (but not limited to):

• Climate change policy—developments in both the UK and EU (e.g. PRA SS3/19, CSRD, the Omnibus Directive)
• Data protection
• Delegated authority and binders
• Insurance compliance (including non-financial misconduct, SMCR, the FCA Handbook, motor finance)
• Engagement with HMT, PRA, and FCA—including lobbying
• Solvency II
• Cyber

We are looking for someone with a thorough understanding for the insurance market who not only brings technical expertise but also understands the context behind these issues and how previous policy shifts still shape today’s regulatory environment.
