Do you want to put science at the heart of decision-making? The
Royal Entomological Society (RES) is on an ambitious journey with their 20252028 strategy, and are looking for a
Policy & Public Affairs Manager to help them become a go-to voice for insect science in the UK and beyond.
In this pivotal role, youll lead on policy development, craft evidence-based positions, and engage with decision-makers to ensure insect science informs government policy. From managing the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Pollinators and Invertebrates to drafting impactful consultation responses and building key relationships across Westminster and the devolved administrations, youll help amplify the voice of their members and research.
What Youll Do
- Develop evidence-based policy positions & responses to consultations
- Engage with Ministers, Civil Servants & Parliamentarians across the UK
- Manage the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Pollinators & Invertebrates
- Lead the Societys parliamentary events & stakeholder engagement
- Produce policy briefings, reports & newsletters to drive impact
What Were Looking For
- Proven experience in policy development & public affairs, ideally within science or environment
- Strong understanding of UK political systems & influencing levers across all four nations
- Excellent written & verbal communication, able to engage diverse audiences
- Strategic thinker with strong relationship-building skills
- Experience working with All-Party Parliamentary Groups (desirable)
