Job description

Our client is a Local Authority based in Surrey and they require a Planning Policy Officer to join them for a contract role.

The main focus of this role will be to support a range of evidence base studies. The work will include:

• Leading on open space/playing pitch, retail, town centre evidence bases
• Assisting on HELAA development site assessments
• Taking part in Green Belt Assessments (in the field)
• Assisting with monitoring
• Developing draft policies for the new local plan

To apply for this role you will need a relevant degree level qualification and, ideally, professional accreditation. You must have demonstrable understanding of UK town planning procedures, providing a solid foundation for effective decision-making and proven experience in planning policy work, showcasing your ability to navigate complex challenges. You must be able to demonstrate experience in public participation/engagement, fostering collaborative relationships within the community. Holding a Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute would be beneficial.

This contract will initially be offered for 3 months but it will be an ongoing rolling contract. The rate offered is £40 - £45/hr Umbrella. This role is inside IR35.

Our client offers hybrid working arrangements. Office attendance will be flexible, as and when needed for meetings, site visits etc.
