Job description

ASSOCIATION OF POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONERS

POLICY and GOVERNANCE MANAGERS

Salary: £47,075- £52,679 plus London Weighting if applicable

Initially available as fixed term contracts or secondments to 30 September 2026

The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) has exciting opportunities for two Policy and/or Policy and Governance Managers to join our busy team to deliver an ambitious programme of work to develop and support Police and Crime Commissioners and their equivalents (PCCs) as the public’s elected voice on policing and criminal justice.

These are rewarding and demanding roles with responsibility for leading and supporting some of the key deliverables for this programme of work. You will need to have excellent analytical, policy development, communications and problem-solving skills, a strong commitment to the development of the PCC role and ideally experience of working within the policing governance or a closely related sector. One role will have a focus on local policing – including Anti-Social Behaviour and business and retail crime -while the other will focus on supporting PCCs to effectively scrutinise their forces and to address performance issues.

The APCC is the national membership organisation for PCCs, deputy mayors and other local policing bodies. We support PCCs to provide national leadership, deliver their priorities locally and to drive strategic change in policing, criminal justice and community safety. These are varied and rewarding roles at the heart of the organisation and provide a unique opportunity to gain further experience of national policing and criminal justice policy.

Full details, including how to apply for these roles, can be found in the role specification.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 21st May, with interviews expected to be held in w/b 2 June.
