We're looking for a driven and passionate individual to join us at Which? as a Policy Data Analyst

Our Strategic Insight team is key to helping us understand whether markets deliver good outcomes for consumers. We have an enviable track record of delivering for consumers. Recently, our research has been used by the government when it legislated to regulate Big Tech and to ban fake online reviews, by Ofcom to support its decision to ban the use of inflation-linked mid-contract price rises in contracts, and by the Competition and Markets Authority in its investigation into veterinary services.

To build on this success we're looking to recruit a Policy Data Analyst with proven analytical skills and a desire for their work to have impact.

Key responsibilities include:

You'll work alongside other data analysts, economists, data scientists and social researchers to produce the evidence that drives Which?'s programme of advocacy activities. Using primary and secondary data, you will conduct analyses to generate compelling insight into consumer attitudes and behaviours that persuades the government and regulators to act in the best interests of consumers.

You will be given the autonomy to explore different methodologies and develop innovative research and analysis to support our purpose of championing consumers. You'll work closely with colleagues in our policy and campaigns teams to understand the needs of our audiences and to make sure your work has the reach it needs.

You will:

  • Ensure we have appropriate data to answer our research questions. This might require providing support and advice on elements of primary research design so that we collect the right data from the right sample of respondents, or using web-scraping methods to efficiently collect secondary data.
  • Analyse data from internal survey sources, national surveys, and other secondary data sources to generate compelling and original insight into the attitudes and behaviours of UK consumers and the actions of businesses.
  • Report results and recommendations through presentations, briefings, reports and contributions to our website.

About you:

  • Experience of doing advanced quantitative analysis and the ability to create insight through intelligent and robust analysis.
  • Experience in the use of R, Python or similar and data visualisations using tools such as Flourish or similar.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to convey complex information with clarity and to a non-technical audience.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, and a commitment to delivering analytical outputs of the highest quality.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build and develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The interview process for this role involves:-

  • 60 minute video interview including a short role related task to be prepared in advance.

We also have these benefits for you to consider:

  • Generous 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays & Option to buy additional days
