R0204 Policy Assistant

Grade: 5 £31,296 - £35,526

Directly responsible to: Policy Manager and Policy Officer

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Office of the Police and Crime Commissioners in West Midlands

Closing Date: 12pm noon, 21st February 2025. Interviews to take place in person on Wednesday 5th March 2025.

Do you have a strong interest in policing, policy and social justice? Are you organised with strong administrative skills? Do you want to make a difference?

The Policy Assistant will provide important support to the Police and Crime Commissioner, through funding from the Home Office. You will support the development and delivery of effective domestic abuse perpetrator interventions and support the Victim’s Policy area.

You will facilitate operational delivery alongside the domestic abuse lead and key national partners. You will support the development and priorities of perpetrator interventions locally, against the government’s national strategy and the commitments within the police and crime plan. Providing a great opportunity for legacy and sustainability of pilots which have evidence of impact.

You will have excellent organisational skills to support and coordinate our domestic abuse agenda. You will need to have the skills and confidence to brief the Commissioner and other senior colleagues, and help to develop policy to deliver real improvements for those affected by domestic abuse.

You will have strong communication skills with the ability to develop relationships at all levels. You will also need energy, motivation, commitment and enthusiasm to maintain partner relationships.
