Job Description
Policy and Public Affairs Manager - Tommy's London
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of Tommy's policy and advocacy plans, working closely with the Research Teams and the Joint Policy Unit to ensure evidence-based and consistent approaches.
- Develop, build, and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, political advisors, healthcare leaders, researchers, patient voice groups, and other charities and organisations in the sector.
- Research, analyse, and monitor policy issues relevant to Tommy's work, including areas such as miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, maternal health, and care.
- Represent Tommy's in meetings with government departments, parliamentary committees, and other relevant organisations to advocate for change and improvement in maternal health.
- Develop and maintain Tommy's positions on key policy areas, informing media and communication strategies.
- Draft policy papers, briefings, consultation responses, and position statements to communicate Tommy's views and recommendations.
- Identify effective routes to create policy change and advise on engaging Tommy's community of supporters through clear calls to action.
The Successful Applicant
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Experience in public policy, public affairs, or political engagement, preferably within health, charity, or non-profit sectors.
- Proven track record of influencing policy and building relationships with government, healthcare stakeholders, and the media.
- Experience managing public-facing campaigns and initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of conveying complex policy issues clearly and convincingly.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive, results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Knowledge of the UK political system, policymaking process, and key health policy issues.
- Research and analytical skills to interpret complex policy documents and data.
