Overview

Progress banks are making in aligning their financing activities with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct rigorous, research-based and policy-oriented analysis in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Contribute to writing up research-based policy-relevant outputs, including reports, commentaries, or discussion papers in a timely manner, contributing to the overall research programme of the Centre.
  • Help in organising and conducting engagement activities, including liaising with external stakeholders, representing the TPI Centre at conferences, seminars and workshops, and conveying complex ideas to stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
Role requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, sustainable finance, environmental economics or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the banking sector, its core activities and disclosure frameworks (e.g., PCAF and ISSB) gained through academic or professional experience.
  • Academic or professional experience and understanding of either (1) decarbonisation challenges and technologies in key high-emitting sectors, (2) the role and barriers of climate finance, corporate ESG, and impact investing, or (3) policy and legislation for climate mitigation/adaptation and national target setting.
  • Familiarity with corporate carbon accounting and Integrated Assessment Models/Energy-Economy models of low-carbon scenarios, such as those provided by the IEA.

Salary from £43,277 to £51,714 p.a. inclusive with potential to progress to £55,497 p.a. of London allowance. Salary offers will be commensurate with skills and experience, starting at £43,277.

This post is full-time and fixed term until 31 December 2026, with a potential extension subject to funding.

The TPI Centre is an independent, authoritative source of research and data on the progress of corporate and sovereign entities in transitioning to a low-carbon economy. It is the academic partner of the Transition Pathway Initiative; a global initiative aimed at helping investors assess companies' preparedness for the transition and supporting efforts to address climate change.

The role will be based within the TPI Centre.
