Job description

Salary: Up to £51,000 per annum

What is the purpose of this job?

We believe that the art of project management is about the balance between driving delivery and being an inspiring leader who forges strong working relationships. As a Project Manager at RDG your role is to work across project teams, operational teams and a range of stakeholders to successfully deliver projects to time, scope and budget. This will involve employing both project management tools and techniques and excellent people skills. This role will be measured by the successful delivery of Policing & Security specific projects (eg Work Related Violence & Violence Against Women & Girls) within our organisation, and where appropriate our member organisations too.

What can I expect to do in this job?

This isn’t an exhaustive list; however, you can expect to be involved in the following:

· Planning what work needs to be done, when and who’s going to do it;

· Reviewing and managing risks;

· Reviewing complex data;

· Ensuring compliance with governance and assurance processes;

· Being responsible for getting the work done to the right standard;

· Motivating the (matrix) team of people involved in the project;

· Co-ordinating multiple work streams and teams;

· Facilitating project meetings and workshops;

· Ensuring the project is running on time and to budget;

· Dealing with changes to the project as and when necessary;

· Ensuring the outcomes and benefits of the project are delivered; and

· Working to the RDG Project Delivery Framework

· You will be based (2-3 days a week) at the RDG offices in London (Puddle Dock, Blackfriars) and some travel may be required.

We are looking for someone with experience (ideally within the policing and security domain) of working as a project manager or similar, demonstrating a strong aptitude for the role and solid relevant project delivery knowledge.

Some of the specific skills and knowledge we are looking for include:

· Managing project scope, including benefits management, change control, configuration management, change management and requirements management;

· Experience with project scheduling – both resource and time;

· Project budget and cost control experience;

· Managing risk, understanding the risk context and demonstrating a range of risk techniques;

· Experience in dealing with external resource, including third party contracts and procurement;

· Solid understanding of data analysis and ability to utilise data for successful project delivery;

· Good understanding of a project business case and ability to translate the business case into successful delivery; and

· Experience in project planning, reporting and stakeholder management;

· Desirable experience in national workshop delivery and public events.
