Job Description:

We are seeking a PIP2 Police Staff Investigator to join our major crime team in Portsmouth.

This role involves utilizing investigative approaches to gather material, prioritizing the victim, and effectively investigating serious and complex crimes to achieve appropriate outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborating with investigators, specialists, and managers to develop and implement investigative procedures for serious and complex crimes.
  2. Gathering and recording evidence and intelligence from various sources, ensuring evidence is admissible in court.
  3. Planning investigative actions considering available resources and priorities at force, regional, or national levels.
  4. Assessing threat, harm, and risk to develop investigation strategies.
  5. Interviewing witnesses and suspects, gathering information, and generating further lines of enquiry.
  6. Using powers to arrest, apprehend, and issue warnings when necessary.
  7. Conducting search and custody procedures in accordance with legislation and policy.
  8. Supporting victims, conducting risk assessments, and working with the Victim Care Unit to ensure victim safety and wellbeing.
