Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with detainees, victims, and witnesses according to legal standards.
  • Evaluate evidence and take statements as required by legislation.
  • Present case files to the Crown Prosecution Service and attend Case Conferences.

Job description

Can be based at Bournemouth, Weymouth or Winfrith

NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 3 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.

  • For office based and hybrid roles, your commute to the place of work must be less than 1 hour.
  • This is a temporary role, initially 6 months. Please do not apply if you are seeking a permanent position.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified PIP Level 1/2 Investigator or recognised transferrable investigative experience.
  • Working knowledge of the criminal justice system, application of PACE and Human Rights.
  • Specialist Policing Skills such as Holmes, Exhibit/Disclosure training.
  • Ability to make and review decisions after gathering information, assessing risks, and considering options.
  • Ability to deal with potentially difficult and volatile situations in a professional, calm, and innovative way.

The purpose of the role is to provide active professional support within the Criminal Investigation Department for the investigation of crime, covering all aspects of the investigative process that do not require formal Police powers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and conduct interviews with detainees, victims, and witnesses according to the Law and Practical Guide to Investigative Interviewing.
  • Evaluate evidence and information obtained on an ongoing basis.
  • Take statements as required in accordance with legislation and procedure.
  • Determine the appropriate course of action in a case and undertake that action thoroughly and expeditiously.
  • Complete relevant documentation in paper and digital format to support the case.
  • Conduct all necessary investigative work required to bring about a prosecution, except those parts which form core Police Officer powers.
  • Present case files to the Crown Prosecution Service, attend Case Conferences with Crown Prosecutors and Prosecution Counsel in line with Force and National Policy.
