A leading public service organization is recruiting Police Staff Investigators across Devon and Cornwall. The role involves investigating serious and complex crimes, requiring PIP 2 Accreditation and strong investigative skills. Salary: Starts at GBP 36,630 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of GBP 40,893 per annum
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis, your salary will be prorated accordingly. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

We are proud to be expanding our team and strengthening our investigative capacity across Devon and Cornwall by recruiting up to 35 experienced Police Staff Investigators (PIP 2) to help us deliver the highest level of service to our communities. Vacancies are within our Criminal Investigation Department and Public Protection Units.
The role
You’ll play a key role in investigating serious and complex crimes, working closely with victims, witnesses, and suspects. The cases you handle will span a range of Level 2 offences including: Rape and Serious Sexual Offences, Domestic abuse, Stalking and harassment; Serious acquisitive crime; Offences against the Person; High-impact cyber-enabled and cyber-dependent offences; Child abuse and neglect offences; Crimes against vulnerable adults, etc. Many of these investigations will proceed to Crown Court, often involving the most serious offences and having a significant impact on victims and communities. Your expertise will be vital in delivering justice and protecting those most at risk.
The person
Previous achievement of PIP 2 Accreditation is essential for this role, with experience in investigating serious and complex crime, including conducting interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects. Please note current registration is not required; however, you will be expected to be fully accredited within 12 months of taking up the position. A strong investigative mindset with attention to detail to undertake complex cases to deadlines is key.
Hours
We offer full-time hours and will consider part-time hours, with various shift patterns available. Some roles may attract additional allowances up to GBP 14 and weekend working payments, depending on the hours and shifts worked. Please see the attached example shift pattern.
