About the role
As a Police Constable no two days are the same; it’s a demanding yet hugely rewarding role.
Following successful completion of probation; as a substantive Police Constable you will have the ability to consider a wide range of opportunities for progression and specialism within the Force.
You will make a real difference to people’s lives every day, often when they need you the most!
What you will be doing
The Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) offers a two-year comprehensive programme of training, with a blend of classroom-based and operational study.
You will be assessed throughout your two-year training programme, on your knowledge, skills, and behaviours; however, unlike other entry routes, you will not be required to complete an academic qualification as part of your training.
During your first 24 weeks of initial training (including two scheduled weeks holiday), you will undertake your initial Police Learning Phase (IPL). You will be provided with a timetable for this period, typically Monday-Friday 09:00am-17:00pm at Wiltshire Police Headquarters. Please note that no leave other than the scheduled two weeks can be taken during your first 24 weeks as an officer.
Following your initial training, you will then join one of our Local Policing Teams to gain practical on-the-job experience with a three-month Tutorship.
