An established industry player is seeking dedicated individuals for law enforcement positions on a University campus. Candidates will engage in a variety of responsibilities, including patrolling, responding to incidents, and enforcing laws. The roles range from trainee to experienced officer, providing a pathway for career advancement in law enforcement. Positions in this banded class perform law enforcement work at a University campus or other State facility. With full powers of arrest, positions enforce the laws of the State and the United States Government. Work involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to complaints, investigating violations, collecting and preserving evidence, and testifying in court. Roles may include patrol officer, detective, crime prevention officer, or lead officer.
Applicants not meeting the minimum requirements for Police Officer I, or those in basic law enforcement training (BLET), may be considered as Trainees. Trainees must complete BLET and obtain certification from the NC Law Enforcement Training and Standards Commission to advance to Police Officer I.
$39,462 – $45,919.
Entry-level position with 0-2 years of law enforcement experience. Must have probationary certification from NC CJETSC.
Salary range: $51,660 - $53,726.
Experienced officers with 2+ years of law enforcement experience and full certification from NC CJETSC.
Salary range: $54,243 - $56,413.
Veteran officers with 4+ years of experience and intermediate certification from NC CJETSC.
Salary range: $56,995 - $59,275.
Lateral hires must be certified NC law enforcement officers or eligible for certification. Out-of-state hires must meet NC CJETSC standards. Candidates must be at least 20 years old, possess a valid NC driver’s license, and pass background, medical, psychological, and drug tests.
Employment requires completing orientation and training, and the ability to communicate effectively, work day and night shifts, and meet physical and mental requirements.
This role is designated as a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act, requiring reporting of Clery crimes and annual training.
