Salary up to £53,482 (including a £2,000 South East Allowance) plus benefits

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. We aim to provide a world-class service for protecting nuclear materials and facilities. We seek skilled professionals to join our high-performing team.

We are looking for a Police Misconduct & Vetting Solicitor to provide legal services related to misconduct and vetting proceedings.

The role involves advising on employment law, police law, civil litigation, data protection, and other legal matters. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing police misconduct and vetting cases
  • Representing in Police Misconduct, Vetting Appeals, and Police Tribunals
  • Advising on Police Performance Hearings
  • Attending hearings and tribunals, undertaking advocacy
  • Training and developing team members
  • Instructing external advisers
  • Identifying procedural changes from police regulation updates
  • Sharing updates on legislative changes and case law
  • Deputising for team members as needed

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified solicitor, Barrister, or FILEX with rights of audience in England and Wales
  • Experience in advising and representing in regulatory work
  • Advocacy experience in police misconduct or regulatory proceedings (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing demands
  • Knowledge of Police Conduct Regulations, Police Reform Act 2002, and related codes (desirable)
