Police Controller – Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary
Location: Netley
Contract: Full-time and permanent. After training, flexible working requests can be submitted, but approval is not guaranteed. Full-time shifts are required during the 13-week training period.
Salary: Starting at £35,000 total, comprising a basic salary of £26,106 plus 20% shift and weekend allowances. After training, the basic salary increases to £29,109, totaling £39,000.
Closing Date: Wednesday 21st May 2025 at 23:59. The earliest start date is January 2026, but not guaranteed.
As a Police Controller, you will handle emergency calls, assess incidents, communicate with officers, and ensure public safety with empathy and calmness. The shift pattern is 6 days on, 4 days off, averaging 37 hours per week, with shifts typically 10 hours long.

Initial 6-week classroom training, followed by live call support for up to 6 shifts. An additional apprenticeship in Contact Handling will be completed over 13-18 months, leading to a recognized certification.
No formal education requirements, but QCF Level 2 in Maths and English is preferred. Good customer service, communication, and IT skills are essential. Must be 18+ and pass pre-employment checks. Reapplication after unsuccessful attempt is allowed after 3 months.
