The Fixed Intelligence Management Unit offers a unique role at the heart of counter terrorism investigations for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to participate in a critical aspect of this area of policing. In addition to the routine receipt and assessment of intelligence to enhance understanding or mitigate threats, staff in the IMU are required to undertake a number of other functions in relation to the management of intelligence for live operations across the South East.
Whilst providing intelligence support to the Senior Investigating Officer, other day to day responsibilities will see the successful candidate comply with all requirements of the National Standards of Intelligence Management (NSIM) by receiving, assessing and managing information and intelligence in support of daily business or specific operations. Additionally, this role acts as the conduit for the two-way flow of overt, sensitive and secret information and as an authority on level two issues, providing assistance where needed to local forces. This role also identifies and provides relevant and timely information to aid development of strategic and tactical intelligence assessments, target and problem profiles.
We are seeking to appoint officers who are professionally curious, motivated problem-solvers, and those interested in protecting our national security. Many of the skills needed are found and nurtured in other areas of policing, for the rest we give extensive training.
The Fixed Intelligence Management Unit is also an excellent entry point to a career in CT Policing, with regular operational engagement with every other department in the region.
Our team provides 24/7 coverage for the region through an on-call rota and works a shift pattern - the details of which can be requested from the recruitment team.
During times of critical threat our officers may travel to other regions of the UK to support a national response. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten year. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad. Please be aware that if successful there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post
