The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally as the UK’s leading organisation for protective policing of the civil nuclear industry and critical national infrastructure. We recruit skilled professionals to our team due to the critical nature of our work.
Our role in protecting national security is unique, involving 24/7 armed response, patrolling nuclear sites and facilities, working with local police forces, and participating in operations like Operation Temperer.
New officers undergo a 19-week comprehensive firearms training programme, with a condensed 4-week programme for those already trained in AFO/ARV.
After a 6-month probation, officers can apply for specialized roles such as Dog Handler, Firearms Instructor, or Strategic Escort Group Officer.
Applicants must have a full manual driving licence and have satisfactorily completed their probation with their current or previous force.
