About the Role...

As a Senior Podiatrist in Offender Health, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients within HMP settings. This will involve diagnosing clinical conditions, collaborating with patients to create podiatric treatment plans, and maintaining accurate records as an autonomous practitioner. You will play a key role in enhancing healthcare outcomes for individuals in custody.

Your Day to Day...

As a Senior Podiatrist, you will manage a clinical caseload, including waiting lists, in partnership with the HMP site, ensuring compliance with Premier Physical Healthcare (PPH) policies and maintaining professional standards. You will provide high-quality care, prioritise clinical needs, assess patient capacity and consent, and deliver a range of podiatric treatments, including nail surgery, MSK/biomechanics, wound care, diabetes care, and routine care. You’ll also advise patients on self-care, communicate effectively with patients and carers, and offer specialist advice to the MDT. You will stay up to date with industry trends, contribute to CPD, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in staff appraisals. Additionally, you will measure and evaluate practices using evidence-based methods, represent PPH locally, and manage workload efficiently while adhering to Health and Safety policies and ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications, Experience & Training...

  • HCPC registration as a Podiatrist.
  • Proven experience in podiatry, ideally within a healthcare or offender health setting.
  • Strong clinical and organisational skills.
  • Ability to assess and treat complex cases independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, carers, and the MDT.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
