Job Purpose:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced PMO Manager to join our Project & Programme delivery team. This role is pivotal in delivering a consistent and professional PMO service across a diverse set of programmes and initiatives. You will work closely with programme and project delivery teams to ensure governance, assurance, and project standards are effectively applied and embedded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PMO Service Delivery: Deliver a high-quality PMO service across assigned programmes and projects, ensuring adherence to governance frameworks, and delivery processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a Trusted Partner to Programme and Project Delivery teams, constructively influencing and challenging to drive improvements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Benefits & Change Management, Portfolio Assurance, and Portfolio Delivery.
  • Governance and Assurance: Lead the implementation of PMO functions such as governance, assurance, and reporting at both programme and project levels. Work closely with Programme Managers, Senior Responsible Owners, Business Change Managers, and Project Managers.
  • Management Information & Reporting: Produce key management information to support programme-level decision-making. Maintain the programme's monthly reporting heartbeat and ensure accurate, up-to-date information is available in the PMO Hub to inform stakeholders and provide assurance on portfolio status
  • Team Coordination: Serve as the central point of contact for PMO management, PMO analyst roles within assigned programmes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the PMO function.

Qualifications and Skills:

ESSENTIAL:

  • Holds a recognised professional qualification in PMO, Programme, or Project Management (e.g. P3O), or demonstrates equivalent experience in a relevant environment.
  • Proven experience applying project, programme, and portfolio management best practices, with the ability to take a strategic view across programmes and portfolios.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a structured approach to problem-solving and the confidence to influence, negotiate, and lead in a complex, transforming organisation.
  • Demonstrates innovation and continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to make sound decisions, promote inclusion, and take delegated responsibility when required.

DESIRABLE:

  • Good honours degree (which could be scientific, technical, or business oriented) or equivalent professional experience operating at a management level delivering complex technology intensive programmes
  • Change & Benefits Management experience
