Job description

To deliver highly individualised, engaging, and multi-sensory learning experiences that support the educational, social, and personal development of learners with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), in alignment with their EHCP outcomes.

The ideal PMLD Tutor will be expected to:

  1. Design and deliver bespoke, sensory-rich lesson plans tailored to each student’s developmental and communication needs.
  2. Incorporate students’ EHCP outcomes into learning plans, setting realistic and meaningful short-term targets.
  3. Support and encourage the use of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, eye gaze, switch technology).
  4. Provide a structured, safe, and nurturing tutorial environment, including leading AM and PM tutorial sessions for a key group of students.
  5. Maintain high-quality and up-to-date records of progress.

Our vibrant Gillingham campus in North Dorset is seeking to recruit a compassionate and resilient Tutor with experience supporting individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), complex needs, or severe learning disabilities in an educational setting.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of PMLD Tutor you will:

  • Hold a minimum Level 4 teaching qualification.
  • Be proficient in written and spoken English and numeracy at Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Be willing to participate in ongoing training.
  • Have availability to attend team meetings outside of regular working hours.
  • Hold a current and valid driving licence.
  • Be flexible in your availability to accommodate the needs of students and partner organisations.

Salary

£29,515.20 per annum
