PMLD Teaching Assistant - Chelmsford

Academics Chelmsford are seeking a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Chelmsford. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them access education in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment.

The Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with PMLD
  • Assist with personal care needs and mobility, always ensuring dignity and respect
  • Support pupils in developing communication, independence, and life skills
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver tailored learning opportunities
  • Create a positive, nurturing environment where all students can thrive
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have previous experience in SEN education or a care setting
  • Be patient, empathetic, and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Be flexible and proactive in adapting to students' individual needs
  • Hold a current enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply through Academics)
