Job Title: PMLD Support Assistant - Secondary SEN School
Location: Southwark, London
Salary: 100- 130 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only

A welcoming and inclusive Secondary Special School in Southwark is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PMLD Support Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people aged 11-19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.
As a PMLD Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have complex physical and cognitive needs, providing essential educational and personal care support. Many students are non-verbal and require a high level of sensory input and communication support.
Key Duties:
Support students with severe and profound learning needs in class and 1:1
Assist with personal care including toileting, feeding, and medical routines (training provided)
Use specialist communication aids (e.g. PECS, Eye Gaze, Makaton)
Deliver sensory-based learning activities in line with EHCPs
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to promote progress and well-being
Previous experience working with students with PMLD or complex needs
Confidence in delivering personal care and moving & handling
Knowledge of sensory integration or multi-sensory approaches (desirable)
A caring, patient, and enthusiastic attitude
A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
A supportive and skilled staff team
