The Portsmouth-based specialist school for children with profound, severe, and complex learning difficulties is seeking enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to support children with co-occurring needs, including behavioural and mental health issues, autism spectrum condition, severe physical disabilities, and complex medical conditions.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for Psychology, Counselling, or Criminology graduates, and other relevant subjects, to gain experience working with children with special educational needs and mental health challenges. The school has three sites serving pupils aged 2 to 19 years.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside therapists and psychologists, shadow sessions, and learn from experienced professionals. The role is ideal for aspiring educational or occupational psychologists, therapeutic support workers, or SEN teachers.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, enthusiastic, and resilient, with confidence in managing challenging behaviour. Relevant recent experience or qualifications are preferred.
