Job summary

Academics is recruiting a Specialist Teaching Assistant to work with students with PMLD and complex needs across Rotherham. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, personal care, and use of AAC tools, within a multidisciplinary team. Immediate start available and term-time placements are common.

Salary ranges from £92.56 to £110 per day, with weekly pay and access to CPD tailored to complex needs. A dedicated consultant will assist from day one and there are opportunities to work across

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willing to obtain one.
• Ability to provide two professional references.
• Experience supporting pupils with PMLD or complex needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with PMLD and complex needs.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, and feeding as required.
• Support communication using AAC tools.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists.
• Create sensory-rich learning activities to meet EHCP goals.
• Maintain a calm, nurturing classroom environment.
