Hi! My name is Catherine (Kat)! I am the PMA Lead Practitioner based in Suffolk. Firstly, thank you for your interest in the PMA Practitioner role. I wanted to take some time just to let you know what a typical day looks like in our department. We are a small and supportive team with a diverse range of backgrounds and experience. We are dedicated to improving the safety of staff and patients alike through delivering breakaway, conflict resolution and physical intervention training. On a typical day you may be responsible for delivering training to staff or attending the wards to give bespoke advice, supporting with policy reviews, developing our training curriculum and more! As a team we are placing a large emphasis on our own continued professional development, learning and education and welcome those who are keen to develop. It is an exciting time to join our team, we have just gained our own accreditation meeting the restraint reduction network training standards and have exciting plans. You will need to have been continuously employed in a support or care role within social care, education or a health care environment for a period of not less than two years.

This is not a nursing position based within the clinical teams. This is a training and education role within the education and development team. We welcome applications from those with a professional nursing registration or relevant degree such as therapy, psychology, health and social care, education and those with experience within training, education within health and social care.

It is preferable that you have some experience delivering training however you will be fully supported by our team to enable you to confidently deliver our training curriculum.

You will facilitate in the delivery of physical intervention and breakaway courses to all staff in accordance with the current syllabus and the restraint reduction network training standards. This is a busy role, and our training requirements mean that delivering training will be a large part of the role. This will include accurate record keeping and ensuring the safety of those we deliver training to. This post is based in Suffolk with the expectation to travel between Norfolk and Suffolk to deliver training. There will also be an expectation to deliver training to other organisations outside of the county and therefore you will be able and willing to travel which may include overnight stays. You will be able to communicate effectively and build strong relationships. You will be supported to give bespoke clinical advice and spend time getting to know the clinical environments.

We are a team of people who have worked in a variety of clinical settings and are passionate about reducing restrictive interventions and facilitating Prevention and Management of Aggression training for our staff.

Your clinical skills are transferable to the teaching environment and your dual professional role will continue to expand, we as a department recognise the value of our support in the clinical areas and are working towards this valued resource to support our staff and our service users.

Your Health and Wellbeing is important to us and travel expenses will be paid, we understand that travelling time can impact on this and we work together to balance this in our planning. We also commit to monthly protective time for supervision, where your Health and Wellbeing is acknowledged as a vital aspect of your ability to develop within the team.

Our hours are 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday, bank holidays and weekends off, giving you valuable time with your families and friends.
