Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a part-time personal assistant to support a 16-year-old girl in the Abercynon area, helping her access the community and develop independence.
Hours are 6 per week, in two or three-hour shifts (Saturday and after school). Pay is £16.30 per hour with 40p per mile where applicable; a DBS check is required and the employer will cover the cost. References and NI number are needed.
I am a 16-year-old girl living in the Abercynon area with my family and golden labrador. I am quite a character when I am happy and can be quite loud. I enjoy watching my IPad and making lists of TV shows and characters. I am very food oriented and incentive driven.
I have a diagnosis of ASD and while I am non-verbal, I can talk and communicate basic needs but cannot have conversations. I can get frustrated at my lack of communication and this can cause behavioural issues at times. I also experience infrequent panic attacks.
I am looking for a PA to support me to access the community and to gain independence away from family and friends.
This would also provide my parents with some respite.
6 hours per week available. Ideally worked in two, three-hour shifts to begin with.
These would ideally be worked on a Saturday and one day after school. But there is flexibility with the hours.
£16.30 per hour and 40p per mile where applicable.
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
