Dewis Centre for Independent Living is seeking a Part-Time Personal Assistant to support a non-verbal 9-year-old in the community, helping with independence and safety. The role involves outdoor activities and driving to preferred places, with duties including personal care support as needed.
The position requires a patient, mature and reliable individual who can participate in activities and ensure the child’s safety at all times. A full UK driving license and use of a car are essential.
I'm a 9-year-old boy living in Glyncoch with my family. I have a number of health conditions and also Global Developmental Delay and Autism. I am non-verbal and wear incontinence pads day and night.
I love everything to do with the outdoors especially open spaces where I can run, such as parks. A pushchair and harness is used when out in the community. Sometimes my legs can 'give in' and that's when I'll use the pushchair.
I love the beach and water and also my iPad and comfy blanket goes everywhere with me.
To support me out in the community, encourage my independence and living skills. Also to ensure my mum knows I am safe.
6 hours per week, during school holidays only
£16.00 per hour and 0.40p a mile.
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
