About Me

I am a 14-year-old girl living in the Rhydyfelin area with my family. I have a dog, cat, and tortoise. I enjoy sensory play, swimming, painting, and making a mess. I am laid back, cheeky, and have a wicked sense of humor. I am clever and communicate using eye contact. I have Rett syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting brain development, leading to mental and physical disabilities. I like watching YouTube; my favorites are Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Squiglet. I have scoliosis and am awaiting surgery.

I am non-verbal and only cry when hungry or thirsty, so caregivers will need to provide food or drinks to calm me. I am on seizure medication, which keeps seizures controlled; I haven't had a seizure recently.

Once you get to know me, you'll love my mischievous personality. I can stand unaided but cannot walk and use a wheelchair.

Purpose of Job

To help me gain confidence and independence while supporting my activities and providing respite for my parents.

Hours of Work

3 hours fortnightly

Rate of Pay

£12.75 per hour. Mileage and expenses will be reimbursed where applicable.

Tasks Involved

• Swimming and participating with me
• Going to the park
• Going to the cinema
• Visiting Amelia Trust Farm or places with animals
• Eating out and assisting with eating
• Personal care (e.g., nappies)
• Helping with feeding, as I eat slowly
