Job summary

Dowds Group is seeking a Plumber / Mechanical Engineer to join the team in central belt Scotland. You will perform plumbing and mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, and small works across multiple client sites, while upholding safety, quality, and high levels of service.

Responsibilities include conducting PPMs, diagnosing faults, handling reactive maintenance, and recording activities in digital systems. UK driving licence and relevant certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Recognised plumbing qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in facilities management, building services or maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience performing both planned and reactive maintenance.
• Good understanding of commercial heating and plumbing systems.
• IPAF/PASMA or equivalent certification considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults on heating and water services and associated plant.
• Undertake reactive maintenance and emergency callouts as required.
• Service and maintain pumps, valves, pipework, cylinders, and related equipment.
• Complete minor installation and refurbishment work.
• Accurately record work using digital job management systems.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.

Dowds are seeking aPlumber / Mechanical Engineer to join t he team. You will be responsible for carrying out plumbing and mechanical maintenance activities across central belt Scotland, fault finding, repairs and small works across multiple client sites while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and customer service.

What you'll be responsible for

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults on heating, hot and cold-water services and associated mechanical plant.
• Undertake reactive maintenance and emergency callouts as required.
• Service and maintain pumps, valves, pipework, cylinders, and associated mechanical equipment.
• Complete minor installation and refurbishment work.
• Accurately record work completed using digital job management systems.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and statutory requirements.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and site stakeholders.

What we are looking for

• Recognised Plumbing qualification (SVQ/NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Experience working within Facilities Management, Building Services or a maintenance environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
• Good understanding of commercial heating and plumbing systems.
• Full UK Driving License.
• Ability to work independently and manage the workload effectively.
• Willingness to undergo security clearance.
• Experience working in healthcare, education, or public sector environments.
• IPAF, PASMA, or other relevant industry certifications.
