Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Plumber to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP/ YOI Foston Hall. This role is based on-site.

There may be a need to work some weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).

At Amey, we're supporting our justice client, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean, and efficient prisons. Our facilities management expertise helps keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The Plumber plays an important role in ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out safely, compliantly, and promptly.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place.

Responsibilities
  • Routine and non-routine maintenance
  • Fault finding and identification of expired equipment
  • Check, repair, and rectify faults and expired equipment
  • Inspections, water sampling, and risk assessments
  • Mains water supply repairs
  • Minimize wastage and improve processes
  • Ensure statutory works are completed on time and meet compliance standards
  • This role may include working at heights and in all weather conditions
  • Ensure H&S standards are maintained across the contract

What makes this role unique is ensuring all work is performed to the highest safety standards and according to method statements. Prison Security Clearance is required (Amey will support you through this process).

Candidate Requirements
  • Full driving license
  • Appropriate Trade qualification (Level 3)
  • Experience operating light plant

Ideally, you will hold NVQ level 3 in Plumbing and Heating with experience in plumbing maintenance. We may consider applications with NVQ level 2.

Desirable but not essential: Legionella Control (L8) certification and experience in a commercial environment. Training will be provided to bring you up to speed.
