Job summary

Samuel Frank Associates is recruiting a PLC Software Engineer to join a well-established systems integrator in the North West (Liverpool). The role focuses on Rockwell and Siemens PLCs, with responsibilities to program from scratch and commission on automotive or conveyor-based projects, with on-site work involved.

You will operate in a project-driven environment with deadlines, may require weekend work during shutdowns, and overtime terms apply.

Qualifications

• Strong PLC programming using Rockwell (Allen Bradley) and Siemens; programming from scratch and commissioning.
• Develop PLC software from scratch based on a Functional Design Specification (FDS).
• Good knowledge of Safety code and HMI knowledge.
• Experience in the automotive sector or conveyor systems (materials handling, baggage handling, automated warehouses).
• Experience delivering projects in a systems integrator, OEM or automation environment.
• Ability to work in a project-driven environment with tight delivery deadlines.
• Willingness to work weekends and Bank Holidays during shutdown periods.
• Overtime paid at flat rate Monday-Friday and x1.3 on Weekends.
• Company will pay 45p/mile for any business mileage.

PLC Software Engineer – Rockwell / Siemens – North West – Permanent – £65-70k + Overtime

Samuel Frank Associates is recruiting for a PLC Software Engineer to join a well-established systems integrator with a strong pipeline of project work across the North West. This PLC Software Engineer role will suit an engineer with solid experience programming Rockwell and Siemens PLCs who enjoys working in a project-driven environment where delivery deadlines matter.

The successful PLC Software Engineer will have experience writing PLC software from scratch and will need to have worked within the automotive sector or on conveyor based systems such as materials handling or baggage handling and be used to working on site.

Key aspects of the PLC Software Engineer role include –

• Strong PLC programming experience using Rockwell (Allen Bradley) and Siemens PLC platforms – must be able to program from scratch and commission
• Ability to develop PLC software from scratch based on a Functional Design Specification (FDS)
• Good knowledge of Safety code is expected as well as good HMI knowledge
• Projects could range from upgrading the safety code on a high-speed production line to the writing of Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC code for a full automotive manufacturing line
• Previous experience working in the automotive sector or on conveyor based systems such as materials handling, baggage handling or automated warehouses
• Experience delivering projects within a systems integrator, OEM or automation environment
• Ability to work effectively in a project-driven environment with tight delivery deadlines
• Willingness to work weekends and Bank Holidays during key shutdown periods, which typically coincide with school holiday shutdowns – around 2-3 times per year they’ll be shutdown periods to cover outside of the North West. These tend to last 2-3 weeks.
• Overtime is paid at flat rate Monday-Friday and x1.3 on Weekends
• Company will pay 45p/mile for any business mileage
