PLC Software Engineer
Based in Huddersfield with UK travel and occasional international travel.
Monday to Thursday: 08:30, Friday: 08:00.
GBP50,000-GBP60,000 (+ various overtime rates up to double time).

Are you an experienced PLC Software Engineer looking to join a dynamic team, with scope for international travel for work?

We are currently representing a global leader in combustion, process, automation, and control systems. They design, build, install, and commission cutting-edge thermal process plants and electrical control systems for clients across the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, renewables, and engineering sectors.

What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Developing and testing PLC and HMI/SCADA software (primarily Siemens and Allen Bradley/Rockwell).
2. Designing industrial communication networks, with familiarity in protocols such as MODBUS and OPC.
3. Preparing key design documentation (I/O lists, FDS, SDI, SDS, FAT/SAT test plans).
4. Commissioning at client sites in the UK and occasionally overseas, including offshore work (full training provided).
5. Supporting sales, proposals, and project delivery teams with technical input, estimating, and equipment selection.

What You’ll Bring:

1. A strong understanding of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
2. Experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or oil & gas industries is desirable but not essential.
3. Familiarity with condition monitoring systems (e.g., Bentley Nevada, B&K, Emerson), Exor HMIs, IIoT, and Functional/Machine Safety would be advantageous.
4. Basic knowledge of Cyber Security would also be a plus.
