The Role

The Player Support Officer (PSO) is responsible for ensuring players and their families experience unparalleled support throughout their time at Manchester United; by delivering a wide range of wellbeing and support services. This role involves managing transfers and relocations, handling visa applications, providing day-to-day player and family support, coordinating match-day family activities, and supporting special projects. The PSO acts as a key point of contact for players and their families, to ensure an elite level support service is delivered.

Key Responsibilities

Transfers and Relocations:


  • Coordinate inbound and outbound transfers and relocations for players, ensuring all wellbeing and logistical details are handled efficiently.
  • Provide comprehensive relocation services including housing, transportation, and local area orientation.


Employment Visas


  • Assist with the preparation and submission of employment visa applications for players and their families.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is complete and compliant with relevant immigration laws.


Translation Support


  • Provide translation services as needed for players and their families to facilitate communication and understanding.


Day-to-Day Player Support:


  • Address and resolve any issues players encounter in their daily lives, ensuring they can focus on their performance.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for players regarding any personal or professional concerns.


Matchday Operations


  • Oversee the players' lounge and boxes on matchdays, ensuring a comfortable and well-organized environment.
  • Coordinate logistics and family support for European away games, including travel arrangements and accommodation.


Special Projects


  • Participate in and provide support for special projects, and initiatives aimed at improving player support and performance.


Family Support And Liaison


  • Offer day-to-day support to players' families, helping them settle, and provide solutions.
  • Assist with family medical support, ensuring access to necessary healthcare services.


The Person:

Experience


  • Previous experience in a player support role, customer service, or administrative position within the sports industry is preferred.
  • Other desired experience would stem from positions such as athlete liaison, performance lifestyle advisor, or player/ athlete care.


Skills:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organiSational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages is a must
  • Familiarity with visa application processes and relocation logistics.

  • A proactive and adaptable approach to work.
  • High level of empathy and cultural sensitivity.

Work Environment:


  • This role may require travel, including international trips for European away games.
