Both postings describe roles focused on planning and delivering a curriculum and activities to support children’s learning and development, working with the Nursery Manager and staff to ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Manager and Nursery Key Workers to plan daily, weekly, and termly play schedules aligned with each child’s developmental stage.
- Observe, assess, and maintain records of children and play activities to meet learning and development needs.
- Keep accurate attendance registers and personal records for children; oversee safe handover at the end of the day with an authorised adult.
- Contribute ideas, support curriculum development, and ensure activities are suitable for each child’s needs.
- Maintain safe, supportive environments and demonstrate safeguarding practices; be available to cover for the Manager as required.
- Prepare and deliver a curriculum through short, medium, and long-term planning.
- Ensure Gaelic language ability is demonstrated in speaking and reading as essential.
- Adhere to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme requirements as part of a regulated role with children.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of Curriculum for Excellence, Pre-birth to Three, Building the Ambition, How Good is Our Early Learning & Childcare, and the National Care Standards.
- Proven childcare experience working with young children and families in an early years setting.
- A qualification that meets the Scottish Social Services Council requirements for Practitioners.
- Ability to plan and implement a curriculum through short, medium, and long-term planning.
- Proficiency in Gaelic speaking and reading is essential.
- Experience delivering curriculum in early years and familiarity with relevant legislation and safeguarding.
