Moog Reading Ltd is recruiting for a Plating Technician to join the team. Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will manage the introduction of new / improvement of existing processes within an established plating shop in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering. Ensure that existing processes are managed and maintained in accordance with established parameters.Ensure that the Company is able to manufacture all of its products to the required specification, quality, timescale and cost


Job Functions:
• Plan procedures and methods to ensure best practice and high efficiency.
• Establish and maintain control plans for each process and support processes
• In line with control plans, working with the relevant Manager, ensure that bath parameters are adjusted or maintained periodically within the control plan guidance and trend charts.
• Highlight current process problems and integrate improvements.
• Support initiatives in instruction, training and checking work of other workers plating as required.
• Create proposals for cost savings and productivity improvements in manufacture.
• Make recommendations regarding new plant/equipment and factory layout , participate and /or carry out inspection functions . first offs , plating quality and surface finishes
• Provide information on performance, . achievement to standard, reject records and any other agreed documentation for continuous improvement means.
• Purchase and maintain consumables necessary to maintain production
• Perform a variety of plating operations on parts or sub-assemblies to process through an established sequence to impart a coating of the required type, . copper, silver and gold.
• Respond to requests for quotation within the desired timeframe and to an acceptable level of accuracy.
• Work to close tolerances, strict inspection standards, and critical operating requirements when implementing new products.
• Recognise obvious defective or damaged parts, incorrect sizes, and/or faulty workmanship
• Recommend changes to improve quality and productivity to management
• Set up / support the waste treatment procedures and monitor plating room safety
• Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Supervisor CNC/Moulding/Plating.
• Implement 5S Practices to ensure a clean tidy and Safe environment
• Follow established company rules and regulations and maintain quality standards.
• Recommend improvements to existing manufacturing processes, methods and tooling that will enable the economic and accurate manufacture of products.
• Work with Production Scheduling to identify and alleviate potential bottlenecks in the manufacturing process
• Adherence to the Company’s working practices, methods and processes to all current and future Health and Safety legislation.
• Control manufacturing costs in relation to budget allocation. Work to reduce variety and standardise where possible.
• Assist in other areas of the Company as required against reasonable requests.

Qualifications:
• Qualification in Chemical processes (ONC/D, HNC/D, C&G or other similar) or equivalent experience is essential.
• FMEA training is desirable.
• Lean Manufacturing training is desirable.

• An indentured apprenticeship, craft or technical qualification is desirable but relevant specialist experience is acceptable

Experience and Competencies:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production environment.
• Competent in plating processes and equipment.
• Competent in setting up and using machines / tools.
