Job summary

Oliver Bernard is seeking a Platform Engineering Manager for a hybrid role, leading a four-person Platform team to scale cloud, Kubernetes and IaC practices on a transformational project.

The role requires hands-on work across Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD and security tooling, plus a strategic, cross-functional leadership approach.

Hybrid opening with office visits 1 day per week and a salary in the £100k-£130k range plus benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years minimum in Head of Platform or Platform Engineering Manager capacity.
• Strategic mindset, driving roadmaps and best practices with cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on background across Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD & Automation technologies.
• Strong knowledge of Network and Security (with prior work across Security & DevSecOps tooling).
• Experience in consultancy space is a bonus.

Job description

Oliver Bernard are currently seeking a strong, Platform Engineering Manager to join a client of ours on a transformational project across their platform. Existing plans are focused on embracing cloud first practices, and scaling their Kubernetes and IaC estate.

The existing Platform team consists of four engineers who work closely with engineering day to day, and are responsible for scaling their practices across Cloud, Containers, and IaC technologies, whilst driving best practices from a broader engineering perspective across Infrastructure.

As the Platform Engineering Manager you will need to be hands-on day to day, whilst being responsible for managing this team, driving platform best practices to better enable product engineering teams, and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

To be considered, the following experience is required:

• Prior experience in a Head of Platform or Platform Engineering Manager capacity (3-4 years minimum)
• Strategic mindset, comfortable driving roadmaps and best practices, whilst working closely with cross-functional teams
• Must come from a hands-on background, comfortable working in a hands-on capacity across Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD & Automation technologies
• Strong knowledge of Network and Security (with prior work across Security & DevSecOps tooling)
• History of line management, career building, and shaping teams long term
• Prior experience in the consultancy space is also a big bonus

This is a hybrid opening, with office visits required just 1 day p/week, and can offer £100-130K (plus benefits) for the right profile.
