Role purpose: The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining all Data Centre services infrastructure environments, management tooling, and services delivered from them. This role leads infrastructure lifecycle management, technology evolution, and project delivery, working closely with Architects to develop and challenge designs.

Security clearance or willingness to apply is required for this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building, maintaining, and supporting Platform Services.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for other Platform Engineers.
  • Leading key Platform Projects to ensure delivery to specifications.
  • Maintaining, upgrading, and supporting platform services.
  • Collaborating with Infrastructure Architects to improve infrastructure and develop new services.
  • Creating and supporting automation capabilities for infrastructure services.
  • Challenging technical experts to explore solutions.
  • Adhering to company policies and processes.
  • Providing professional service to customers and completing assigned tasks.
  • Performing additional duties as required by line management.

Skills and experience:

  • Strong infrastructure skills including Virtualisation, Backup, Security, Networking, Monitoring, and Storage Technologies.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere & vCloud Director, Veeam Backup, Zerto, Hyper-V & SCVMM, Logic Monitor.
  • Knowledge of Azure & Entra, IBM Storage, Brocade FC SAN Switches.
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools.
  • Experience with Cisco and Fortigate Firewalls.
  • Knowledge of IDS/IPS technologies.
  • Familiarity with project and service management best practices (PRINCE, ITIL v).
  • Proven experience as a technical lead on large infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex multi-site/multi-disciplinary problems.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable, flexible, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Must obtain necessary security clearances.
