Job summary

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is seeking an IT Platform Engineer to own and optimize our VMware-based core infrastructure. You will ensure resilience, scalability and high performance across Windows and Linux environments, datacentres and hybrid platforms.

Key focus areas include vSAN, networking, automation, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable services and continuous improvement. This role requires onsite work at Brackley headquarters.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate hands-on experience in enterprise VMware environments.
• Experience with vSAN and VMware networking configurations.
• Strong Windows Server and Linux skills for hybrid environments.
• Knowledge of identity management systems (AD/Entra ID) and modern authentication.
• Ability to script and automate routine tasks to improve reliability.
• Understanding of datacentre environments, cabling, cooling and power.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain VMware and vSAN environments, including virtual networking and storage.
• Install, configure and support physical IT hardware in datacentres.
• Support and troubleshoot server workloads, VMs, clusters and services.
• Contribute to infrastructure security, resilience and business continuity.
• Enable self-service platforms and scalable solutions with teams across the business.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement to reduce manual tasks.
• Support out-of-hours escalations to maintain critical services.
• Collaborate across teams to align platform capabilities with delivery goals.
• Evolve infrastructure across on-premise and hybrid environments.
